Methodology
What the rank measures
SaaS500 ranks companies by the web traffic of their primary domain. The backbone is the Tranco research ranking, a hardened aggregate of five independent providers: Chrome user data (CrUX), Cloudflare Radar, Majestic, Cisco Umbrella, and Farsight. Each daily Tranco list is a 30 day rolling combination, so single day spikes cannot fake a position.
Traffic rank is a proxy for market presence. It is not revenue, not growth rate, and not product quality. We publish the mechanism so you can judge the signal for yourself.
The universe
A company enters the universe when its primary business is subscription software delivered over the internet and sold to businesses. Consumer media subscriptions, hardware companies, pure marketplaces, and infrastructure clouds whose main business is compute do not qualify. Conglomerates are included only when subscription software is their dominant identity. The universe is curated continuously and expands beyond the visible 500 into the paid tiers.
Positions and trends
Every day we snapshot each company's global traffic rank and derive its position inside the universe. The 7 day and 28 day columns compare today's position with the stored snapshots. A company is marked Rising or Falling when its 28 day move exceeds three places or two percent of its position, whichever is larger. New marks a company with no history yet.
Contact data policy
Paid tiers include contact routes at the company level only: the company's own contact form, role based inboxes the company publishes itself, and the company's public social handles. We do not collect, store, or sell personal names, personal email addresses, or any other person level data.
Corrections
Wrong domain, wrong description, wrong category, or a company that should not be listed: use the corrections form and we fix it in the next daily run.
Attribution
Ranking data builds on the Tranco list, a research project of KU Leuven and collaborators, available at tranco-list.eu.
